Mix and Match

The individual pieces of Children's Corner patterns such as collars, sleeves and pockets are interchangeable.  You can make better use of the patterns you buy plus expand your child's wardrobe by "mixing and matching" the pattern pieces to create new garments.  Each season we will give you a new idea!

Jumper with Waistband

Use Libby # Jumpsuit
  1. Stitch side seams of Libby top and top lining.


  2. Stitch medium rickrack to right side around top edge. Stitch lining to top with right sides together. Trim seam, turn and press.


  3. For waistband, cut a piece of contrasting fabric 2 3/4" wide and the length of around the bodice bottom plus 1/2". This waistband can be cut crosswise on the fabric, unless you want the diagonal stripe as shown here. Then the waistband must be cut on the bias.


  4. Stitch waistband using a 1/4" seam. Place waistband on right side of bottom of bodice with raw edges together and waistband seam at a side seam. Baste.


  5. Cut skirt the desired length plus hem allowance. You may also use skirt from Margaret #76. Make skirt and stitch to bottom of bodice.
  1. Cut on crosswise or bias of fabric 3 1/4" wide and 18" long.


  2. Fold in half with right sides together and stitch diagonally at ends and down side leaving a 3" opening in middle. Trim seam, turn and press.


  3. Bow center: Cut a piece 1 1/4" by 1 1/2". Fold in half and stitch. Turn and press.


  4. Form a bow from 18" piece and wrap center with short piece. Tack in place.


  5. Tack bow at waistband.
