- For this dress use the side seam with more flare. Cut out tissue pattern for dress front and back. Fold a piece of tissue paper on half so there is a fold. Place dress front pattern on tissue with center front on fold of paper and cut around. Do the same thing for dress back. Open these patterns to lay flat.
- On dress front draw a line from half way down right-hand side armhole to the opposite side seam using this table: (how far to go below armhole) [Picture 1]
Size 1  1 3/4”    Size 2  2”    Size 3  2 1/4”
    Size 4  2 1/2” Size 5  2 3/4”    Size 6  3”    Size 7  3 1/4”    Size 8  3 1/2”
Place a dot on the 1/4 seam allowance near end of this line. [Picture 2]
Then draw another line across dress from this point to center front at dress bottom.[Picture 3]
- Place dress back tissue paper that you made over dress front tissue pattern and trace lines. Label dress front pieces 1,2,3 from the top [Picture 4] and label dress back pieces 4,5,6 from the top [Picture 5]. Draw grain lines on all six pieces parallel tocenter front. Cut apart and add 1/4” seam allowances where you have cut.
- Cut out front pieces from fabric with fabric right side up. Cut out back pieces with fabric right side down. Use the same fabric for pieces 1 and 4, 2 and 5, and 3 and 6.
- Stitch fabric pieces together making plain seams and press seams to one side. Use a edge stitch foot and topstitch 1/8” from seam on one side to hold seam allowance in place.
- Place dress front and dress back on lining fabric with right sides together. Pin in place. Cut out front and back lining. From this point follow construction instructions in pattern.
